Edwin HubbleEdwin Hubble was a gifted scholar and athlete in school. He went to college to study mathematics and astronomy. He later tried to go to law school , but decided to go back to astronomy. He was the first one to see other galaxies , develop a system to classify galaxies, explain redshift, and define the Big Bang Theory. He also helped redefine Einstein's Theory of Relativity. He is most famous for finding the Big Bang Theory.

The Seasons change as the tilt of the Earth changes, it has nothing to do with how far away the Earth is from the Sun. When it is Spring and Summer, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted more towards the sun and when its Winter and Fall, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the sun. The fancy way of saying all of the seasons is Vernal Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumnal Equinox, and Winter Solstice. The occur on March 21st, June 21st, September 21st, and December 21st, respectively.

THE SUN VIRTUAL TOUR QUESTIONS
-Define: Sunspots Solar Active Region - Define and Temp: Chromosphere Convective Zone Radiative Zone Core Corona -How old is the sun? -How long will the Sun last in its current state? -Summarize the Sun's role in Climate Change -Name two Solar missions and describe their goals -What is the Sun's made of (Composition) |
Sun spots-spot appearing on the Sun from time to time , appearing dark compared with its surroundings
Solar Active Region- place on the Sun with an especially strong magnetic field. Sunspots frequently form here Chromosphere- reddish gaseous sphere immediately above the photosphere of the sun and helps make the outer layer of the Sun. Can get between 6, 000 and 20,000 Celsius. Convective Zone- The outer part of the inside of the Sun where energy travels outward to the photosphere through convention. In the convection zone, hot plasma rises, cools as it nears the surface and falls to be heated and rise again. 2,000,000 Celsius Radiative Zone- Layer of the Sun's interior where energy is primarily transported towards the exterior by radiative diffusion . Energy travels through the radiative zone in the form of electromagnetic radiation as photons. Can be between 7,000,000 degrees and 2,000,000 degrees Celsius. Core- Considered to extend from the center to about 2.0 to 2.5 solar radius. It is the hottest part of the Sun and of the Universe. It is 15,000,000 degrees Celsius. Corona- A faintly luminous envelope outside of the Sun's chromosphere, the inner part consisting of highly ionized elements. Can get up to 2,000,000 Celsius. The Sun is 4.5 billion years old. It will take an estimated 5 billion for the Sun to go to the next stage, which is to become a red giant. Solar Orbiter is a solar mission meant to orbit the Sun and get a look at the Sun's poles, which have never been seen before. Solar Probe Plus will actually get really close to the Sun; it will be in the Sun's corona to get a closer look than ever before. About 72% of the Sun is made of hydrogen, 26% helium, and small traces of oxygen, carbon, neon, nitrogen, magnesium, iron, and magnesium. |
